Devontaè L. Herring is an American artist based in the city of Vineland, NJ. His medium of choice to work with is oil paints. The young and growing artist is currently a student at Cumberland County College majoring in Fine Arts with a focus in Studio Arts. Herring's art is influenced in part by American pop artist and poet Jim Dine and his famous "Hearts" series. After viewing the series and many of Dine's others works, Herring was inspired to take and transform even the most mundane into a work that would evoke an emotion or many from the viewers while expressing himself at the same time.

Abstract expressionism has always been Herring's forte. The fusion of mystery and emotion gives flexibility to both the artist as well as the audience to be able to interpret the work or works at hand. That is what originally drew Mr. Herring to abstract art. The spontaneous use of style and freedom of technique grants Herring the permission he needs to create the encryptions that he tends to place in his art.

 

 Each piece of Devontaè L. Herring's work has a message. And though he may have a message of his own Herring always poses the question to his audience, "What do you see?"
